Icebreaker by Hannah Grace is refreshing and cute but lacks the depth needed to win me over. It was a lighthearted read that I finished in a day and a half… super easy. However, I couldn’t help but wish for the book to end.
The hype that I saw for the book on BookTok and just everywhere in general, I really was under the impression of this novel being up there with the spice level of Becka Mack’s Consider Me. (Please check it out if you have not, I could not get out of this world she created and couldn’t stop thinking about this love story! Definitely darker and spicier if you are into that.) I was a little underwhelmed with the plot, but I just prefer a darker story than most.. I like a little angst, hockey players have the angst!
I could have lived without the plot line with her roommate/partner. Now if the story had a little less side drama and with a protective and romantically interested roommate/partner love triangle instead… that’s my personal espresso!
This is not a bad read at all, it’s just a quick one that may not be that memorable. But it’s okay! It was entertaining nonetheless.
(Also I tried the audiobook, it was soooo cringy. When will there be good spicy book audio? Any recs?)
